FENDER FRIDAY - NOV 13, 2009

Friday the 13th was the date set for our Fender promotion and the day was looking good with plenty of Fender Guitars, Amplifiers and goodies in store. The weather was a little doubtful but we were hoping it would play ball to allow things to flow without any hassles. First things first... the giant 12 foot long Fender Stratocaster hanging outside the shop needed the strings tightened so ben took care of that with a little help from a Lucas, our neighbour, with a forklift. Then, we needed the staging from our drum display to create an outside stage for the Live Band, "Stevie Ray Vaughan/Cream/Hendrix Experience" who were to play at 4pm weather permitting and so we had to remove the majority our drum stock from the staging platforms in our showroom. Next, to accomodate all the Strat's and Tele's we had to totally clear out our entire Acoustic guitar wall and carefully put them in a safe place to make room for all the extra Fender stock that had arrived for the promotion. Once the wall was done, it was time to arrange the entry way with two large Fender Banners, about a dozen fender Squire guitar/amp packages and Fender collectable bar stools. The shop was looking great and was ready for the masses.

During the day we took entries to win a Fender DG4 Acoutsic guitar, with some smaller prizes being drawn prior to the main prize. From 3pm Stuart Edwards played some of his own music to a good sized audience with Derek Shaw joining him on the bass for some of the tracks. The Main band kicked off at 4pm so at around 3.30pm we started getting the band, stage and sound system checked and ready for action. When the band kicked off we had a good sized crowd in attendance and the band were truly awesome, playing Stevie ray and Hendrix covers. Neighbouring buildings had crowds gathered in there windows to see and hear the boys play.
At approximately 4.45pm we did the draw for the DG4 Acoustic guitar with the winner being David Nutsford of Hamilton.
All in all a succesful day and it was great to be able to put on this kind of event for our customers. If you were here then thanks for you support and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did puting it on. A huge thanks also to Richard Liley from Direct imports, Stuart Edwards, Derek Shaw, Simon Koretz and Alan Grady for their generous contributions.

FENDER ROADWORN STRATOCASTER
Some things just get cooler with age. It's especially true of electric guitars and basses - they develop an unmistakable mojo over time that makes them look cooler and feel even more comfortable than they were when they were brand new.
Fender RoadWorn guitars and basses come with a head start on history and bring the player the best of both worlds - a killer aged design aesthetic that conjures up the ghosts of past music lives, paired perfectly with the modern funtionality, playability and high quality that players expect from Fender.
The Stratocaster really came into its own in the 1960s, with players coaxing unbelievable sounds from it amid punishing stage shows and grueling tours. Beaten, bruised and even burned, they only got better as the years wore on?looking even cooler and feeling even more comfortable. Fender's new rosewood-fretboard Road Worn '60s Strat delivers that aged look and feel?built to look, sound and feel like it's got more than just a few miles on it, designed with 1960s specs, including a nitrocellulose-lacquer finish, and supercharged with Tex-Mex? pickups and 6105 frets.

TUNING THE GIANT FENDER...
Over the past few months we've had so many comments from customers that our Giant Fender needed the strings tightened so we convinced Jono to scale our shoddy old wooden ladder & get the deed done. Unfortunately Jono couldn't overcome his fear of heights & Steve had to complete the task... never send a boy to do a man's job.

RAB DROPS THE PICKS...
At some point most of our staff have knocked the picks container from the counter and onto the floor. This time it was Rab's turn - it took him at least an hour to sort it all out...

THEN KNOCKS OVER THE SPARES TIN...!
Just when Rab was starting to convince us that knocking over the picks was a one-off error of judgment, he took all of our confidence away by knocking the spares tin onto the workroom floor! Only took him 10 minutes to sort this mess however so at least he is improving on that aspect.

STEW'S TURN TO MAKE A MESS!!!

Stew's turn had come around again to knock over one of our spares containers;
and luckily, Ben was there the capture the action with the digital camera.

ALL NEW VOCAL PROCESSOR FROM DIGITECH - THE VOCALIST LIVE 2

The world's first processors that automatically generate live multi-part vocal harmony by analyzing guitar chord progressions.
Accurate vocal harmonies even with complicated songs?because only Vocalist Live tracks guitar chords, not your voice.
A surprising number of songs fool other harmonizers because these songs just do not work with a single key/scale setting. In fact, any song that has the same note sung over two different chords (for example, a C sung in the melody over a C maj / F maj chord sequence) is going to confound conventional harmonizers.
Vocalist Live uses breakthrough musIQ technology to directly analyze the output of any electric or pre-amplified acoustic guitar (no special MIDI guitars or hex-outputs needed). Then it generates the correct vocal harmony. For example, if you are singing an A over the chords that are generally found in the key of G, Vocalist will harmonize with a C. But, if you then play an A major, Vocalist will shift to the C#...because like any good harmony singer, it listens to the guitar!
With musIQ, forget about the technology, just sing and play!
Skip complicated programming and having to analyze each song chord-by-chord
1. Plug in your microphone and guitar;
2. Pick a 3rd or 5th-above or below harmony preset;
3. Sing and play. When you want harmony just step on the footswitch!
Patent-pending musIQ technology combines new Note Detection algorithms with state-of-the-art Harmony Generation. The Note Detection section analyzes complex guitar waveforms and determines which notes in each chord are critical to accurate harmony. This information is then fed to an advanced harmony engine that creates harmonies consistent with both the singer?s melody and the underlying guitar accompaniment.
This totally new, musically-intelligent hybrid of traditional chordal and scalic harmony modes means that Vocalist Live musIQ harmonies stay true to not only the overall key and song scale, but also localized variations due to chords that aren?t part of the global key. You?ve never heard anything like it!
